Gilman, Robert C '43 Memorial Scholarship

The name of the fund is the Robert Cooper Gilman ‘46 Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Gilman was a student in the Trades and Industry Curriculum at what was then Keene Teachers College. His time at college was interrupted in 1943 by service in the U.S. Army Air Corps, but he returned in January 1946 to complete his final semester. Mr. Gilman spent his entire career as an educator and administrator in New Hampshire, first teaching shop in New London, then serving as principal in North Woodstock and Ashland, and ultimately as assistant superintendent in Rochester, a position from which he retired in 1980. The scholarship is established by Mr. Gilman’s daughter, Patricia Gilman, and her husband, Paul Minnis, in recognition of Mr. Gilman’s service as an educator and administrator. The purpose of the fund is to provide recognition and financial assistance to students pursuing a degree in secondary education.
