White Mountain Scholars Program
This endowed scholarship was founded by Richard H. White ‘59. Following a successful career in secondary education and out of gratitude for the educational base Keene Teachers College gave him, Dr. White sought to help Keene State College recruit and retain individuals the very brightest students outside New Hampshire. Consideration for this scholarship shall be given to students who: Are US citizens and reside in a state other than New Hampshire; have graduated from an accredited public, private, or parochial school/academy with a GPA of 3.9 or higher, have scored 1350 or higher on their SAT exams, (dual-score system) or who are National Merit Scholarship commended scholars or finalists; must also have been presented a KSC President’s Scholarship; if a transferring student, must have maintained a minimum 3.70 GPA from their previous institution; have demonstrated and documented both classroom participation and extracurricular activity through their essays on the common application and through letters of recommendation from classroom teachers that support high level performance for academics and participation; financial need is not a requirement; and preference to the following major courses of study: Education, English, Foreign Language, Social Sciences, Arts and Humanities.
